King cheetah coloration is much more common and well-known in real life, and would make more sense to be added in my opinion. In real life, only albino lowland tapirs have been discovered, no confirmed sightings of Baird's have ever been found.īengal tiger is listed as LEUCISTIC in the game.īlack wildebeest is listed as ALBINO in the game.īornean orangutan is listed as ALBINO in the game.Ĭheetah is listed as SPOTLESS and KING CHEETAH in the game. ![]() Colors include things like “dark brown” or “reddish brown” in the descriptions.īaird's tapir is listed as ALBINO in the game. With the release of that DLC, up to three special coats per species have been implemented but only a select few actually have that.Īll animals listed are in alphabetical order.Īardvark is listed as ALBINO in the game.Īfrican buffalo is listed as ALBINO in the game.Īfrican savannah elephant is listed as ALBINO in the game.Īldabra giant tortoise, is listed as ALBINO in the game.Īmerican bison is listed as ALBINO in the game.īactrian camel is listed as LEUCISTIC, and PIEBALD, as well as different colors without a specific name in the game. ![]() How many special coats exist per species? Before the launch of the Europe DLC in 2021, all species could only have one special coat. Each special coat can be as rare as a 2,5% chance of appearing in some species and as common as 75% chance of appearing in others if you play in sandbox mode and only buy from the trade center. All in all, finding special coats of animals are pretty rare in most instances. Special coats are easier to find in franchise as others breed and sell them, and certain animals have their special coats easier to be found in general like the black jaguar. Long answer: Depends on what mode you play, and what animal we talk about. If it's not listed or mentioned, it doesn't have a special coat.Īre the chances of finding one rare? Short answer: yes. Most of the images were borrowed from Mergie, so special thanks to them!įirst I'm gonna ask and answer some questions.ĭo all animals have special coat variants? No. A lot animals are listed with female and young in the picture, and if there's a significant sexual dimorphism the male is listed after on a separate image. In this guide, I'll list all types of special coats that the animals can have, what it is called in-game, how it looks with both sexes pictured if there is sexual dimorphism, as well as some fun trivia for some species and a few corrections in the colors that are actually stated in the game. As a lot of these special coat variations are pale, they've been called albinos by players, despite what later in-game descriptions state. While slight color variation was not added until later in the game's life, many species in the game have had special coat variation from launch. If you're into that kind of thing then yeah, I would recommend Barcelona Zoo but otherwise, the less custom it gets the more likely it is they'll realise they should step up their game in terms of the animal welfare. As in real life, the animals in Planet Zoo don't have just one coat color. Some of the enclosures were almost ok but for the most part it basically seemed to me like an exercise in animal cruelty. Add to that the fact that most of the enclosures had little/no foliage in them and had sand floors rather than being made up like their natural habitats. So many of these animals are free roaming animals cooped up in enclousres that just don't give them enough room to stretch their legs. I may be no animal shrink but walking past these enclosures some of these animals were just sitting near the walls watching the people going past or looking, for want of a better word, depressed. The bison and zebra were in enclosures that would get your animals taken away from you over here, considering how many were in there and the giraffes and elephants weren't much better. As much as ambition is a good quality to have I think there's a bit too much here perhaps getting rid of some of the larger animals to make space to expand the other enclosures would be a good idea. Admittedly the open enclosures are a good idea in that you can see the animals easily but the main problem I had was that there were far too many animals in far too small a space. It seemed promising enough to start with as we walked round past the lions and tigers but after that it just went a bit downhill.
